Sir John Graves Simcoe was born on February 25,1752 in Cotter-stock, Oundle, England and died on October 26,1806 at the age of 54 in Exeter, England. His father was Captain John Simcoe and his mother was Katherine Simcoe. his parents had four children, but John Graves Simcoe was the only one to live past childhood. When John Graves Simcoe's father died because of pneumonia the family moved to his mothers parental home in Exeter. John Grave Simcoe was educated at Exeter Grammer School and Eton College. After a year at Oxfords University he was admitted to Lincoln's inn, but he decided to follow his military career. His father also wanted him to be in the military. After that he was initiated into Freemasonry in Union Lodge, Exeter on November 2, 1773. Later on he got married to Elizabeth Posthuma Gwillim in 1782 and had five daughters.
